When questioned by a journalist about the cost and make of vehicles allocated to parliamentarians, Pastef MP Guy Marius Sagna stated that he had received no official information. In a post on his social media, he denounced a lack of transparency and consultation within the National Assembly Bureau, criticized the silence of certain MPs, and called on the majority to be consistent with the government's rhetoric of austerity. Here is the full text of his post:
"Yesterday, a journalist contacted me and asked me the price and make of the cars belonging to members of parliament. To all journalists, to the Senegalese people:"
I do not know the make or the price of the car that the National Assembly is preparing to make available to me.
I refer you to my Facebook post of June 19, 2025, which caused quite a stir.
On June 19, 2025, and in the days that followed, on my Facebook page and in broadcasts, I highlighted several shortcomings in the functioning of the National Assembly. Among these points, I spoke of the "lack of consultation" with members of parliament and of undemocratic processes on important issues such as the allocation of MPs' cars.
Fellow members of parliament and some citizens came out to criticize my stance. Worse, they claimed I wasn't telling the truth. Seven months later, life has only confirmed what I said and my fears.
The MPs received no information about the purchase of the vehicles and were not consulted.
This shows a failure and a lack of vigilance on the part of the Bureau of the National Assembly, the majority of whose members, numbering 17 plus the representatives of the parliamentary groups (03), did not play their role, did not represent the other 145 deputies nor the people.
The majority of these 20 MPs owe an accounting and an apology to the MPs and the Senegalese people.
However, among these 140 other members of parliament who do not attend the meetings of the National Assembly Bureau, the majority have maintained a complicit silence on the issue of cars. Yet, if they had taken a different stance, things would not have turned out this way.
I salute, congratulate and encourage the members of the Bureau of the National Assembly who resist even though they are in the minority.
A parliamentary majority must actively support the government when it is on the right track. The Senegalese government has informed the people of the extent of Senegal's debt, including a hidden portion. The government has informed the people of the anti-national actions taken by Macky Sall's regime and the difficult state of our public finances. The role of the majority of members of parliament is to support the government in streamlining spending, reducing government operations, and tightening its belt. Regarding this vehicle issue, the National Assembly has set a bad example that must be criticized, denounced, and not imitated. And let us add: NEVER AGAIN!
Let's keep a close eye on the National Assembly and make sure this never happens again. It's good to puff out your chest and swear allegiance to our PASTEF president, Ousmane Sonko. But actually acting like him is better.

Ils voyagent en jet, les membres de leurs familles font le tour du monde avec les passeports diplomatiques, ils se tapent des 4x4 en plus de leurs privilèges. Aux mêmes moments ils peinent à payer les bourses des étudiants ni acheter l'arachide des agriculteurs.
Ils se servent avant de servir ceux qui les ont élus. Beaucoup de pasteefiens souffrent en silence mais ont honte de le manifester parce qu'ils avaient pris pour bible les discours populistes de leurs dirigeants. C'est la déception totale
