Homosexualité : Ce que la ministre Yassine Fall a confié aux députés sur la situation à Rebeuss et au Cap Manuel
During her address to the National Assembly of Senegal, Minister Yassine Fall provided a detailed update on the situation of detainees in two major prisons in the country. She revealed that 26 people, incarcerated for homosexual offenses, are currently held at two sites: 19 at the Rebeuss Detention Center and 7 at the Cap Manuel Prison.
The minister also provided details on the conditions of detention, assuring that the chief medical officer is closely monitoring the prisoners' health. Specific measures have been implemented to ensure that HIV-positive individuals receive appropriate medical care, while ensuring that this "does not impact the health of other inmates."
According to Yassine Fall, these cases are "followed to the letter", illustrating a particular attention paid to the management of vulnerable prison populations and the strict application of legal procedures.
This statement is part of the broader review of the draft law concerning the National Observatory of Places of Deprivation of Liberty. This reform aims to strengthen the monitoring of prison conditions and guarantee respect for fundamental rights within the Senegalese prison system.
