Le président Diomaye Faye sur le dialogue : « Mon rôle est de tendre la main à... »
The President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye, reaffirmed his commitment to dialogue as a method of governance and an instrument for consolidating national unity, during national consultations scheduled from May 21 to 31, 2026.
In a press kit from the Presidency of the Republic dedicated to the National Day of Dialogue, the Head of State insists on the inclusive nature of his approach, based on listening and consultation with the different components of the Nation.
"My role, as guarantor of national unity, is to extend a hand to everyone, to reassure, bring together, appease and reconcile," the President of the Republic emphasized in an excerpt from his address, which was taken up by the Presidency.
These consultations will take the form of successive hearings at the Presidential Palace. The first phase, scheduled from May 21 to 24, will be devoted to former Prime Ministers as well as former Ministers of Finance and the Interior, in order to benefit from their experience on the economic and security aspects of the State.
A second phase will then broaden the discussions to include other personalities, notables and representatives of the nation's driving forces.
The discussions will focus on the economic, social, security and political situation of the country, with the aim of reaching lasting consensus in the service of the Senegalese people and Senegal's international standing.
According to the Presidency, this initiative is in line with the doctrine of dialogue in peacetime promoted by Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye since his investiture on April 2, 2024, making consultation a structuring principle of public action.
