« Les esprits chagrins » : Amy Mara de la coalition Diomaye Président recadre Maïmouna Bousso
Controversy is growing around the creation of the national foundation "Sénégal Solidaire" (Solidarity Senegal). Following reservations expressed by MP Maïmouna Bousso, a response was swift. Amy Mara, an official at the Ministry of Finance and a founding member of the Diomaye President Coalition, stepped forward to defend Marie Khone Faye and Absa Faye.
Amy Mara believes the parliamentarian's criticisms are unwelcome, even unjustified. According to her, the initiative of the President's wives demonstrates a sense of responsibility that should be commended rather than questioned.
"The MP should rather welcome their willingness to get involved with our most disadvantaged compatriots," she said from the outset, expressing her "astonishment" at Maïmouna Bousso's statement.
Far from the image of influence structures denounced by the MP, Amy Mara emphasizes that the two First Ladies, with their strong academic background (both hold Master 2 degrees), choose to put their skills to use for social purposes.
“They could have chosen to remain inactive in the face of the major undertaking of fighting poverty in all its forms,” insists the head of the ruling coalition. She points out that the foundation is already involved in critical sectors, such as health: “Through their foundation, they put their knowledge and commitment at the service of noble causes such as the fight against cancer, which is devastating women, by partnering with the Senegalese League Against Cancer.”
Faced with accusations of opacity and lobbying risks leveled by Maïmouna Bousso, Amy Mara calls for a broader perspective. She regrets that partisan issues are taking precedence over the national interest and the well-being of the population.
"It is a shame that partisan politics overshadows good deeds, because no one is too much to contribute to improving the living conditions of our fellow citizens," she laments.
In conclusion, she reiterated her full support for the presidential initiative, urging the President's two wives "not to be distracted by gloomy minds" and wishing them "excellent success" in their social missions.
