Macky Sall à l’ONU : Moustapha Cissé Lô mise sur un « esprit de dépassement » de Diomaye Faye
The debate surrounding a potential candidacy of former President Macky Sall for the position of Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN) has taken a new turn. Moustapha Cissé Lô surprised many by publicly calling on President Bassirou Diomaye Faye to officially support his predecessor in this international diplomatic race.
Former member of parliament, former first vice-president of the National Assembly, and former president of the ECOWAS Parliament, Cissé Lô made no secret of his enthusiasm. "For my part, I wholeheartedly bless and wholeheartedly support President Macky Sall's candidacy for the position of UN Secretary-General. He is Africa's candidate," he declared.
In a statement made this Thursday, the former parliamentarian directly addressed the Senegalese head of state and his government: "I ask President Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye and his government to officially support President Macky's candidacy for this highly strategic position, in the best interests of our beloved country and the African continent."
According to him, the former head of state has the "job profile" and the necessary experience to lead the international organization. He also believes that such a candidacy could help calm a national political climate that he considers "fiery for years."
Nicknamed "El Pistolero," Moustapha Cissé Lô also addressed Macky Sall's political opponents, urging them to rise above their differences. He exhorted "all patriots," as well as religious leaders and the nation's vital forces, to support this ambition, which he presents as a matter of prestige for Senegal and for Africa.
