Mamoudou Ibra Kane interpelle Yassine Fall : « Votre parole peut-elle encore être crédible ? »
Following the annulment by the Indictment Chamber of the Dakar Court of Appeal of all proceedings against MP Farba Ngom, Mamoudou Ibra Kane, president of the "Tomorrow is Now" movement, has taken a stand. The journalist addressed a series of direct and incisive questions to the Minister of Justice, Yacine Fall.
"In all innocence and goodwill, we ask the following questions of our Minister of Justice," he began, before adding: "Can your word, which counts and carries weight, still continue to be credible as if nothing had happened?"
Mamoudou Ibra Kane links this legal setback to other pressing issues: "After such a judicial decision and your memorable accusatory press conference, what credibility can be given to your other procedure requesting a review of the trial of Mr. Ousmane Sonko against Mr. Mame Mbaye Niang?" He concluded this interpellation by asking the minister when she intended to "draw the necessary conclusions," specifying that her response is expected without delay because "it is already getting late."
The Ismaïla Madior Fall and Farba Ngom cases: "Everything is collapsing"
The political leader also commented on the arrest of the man who accused former minister Ismaïla Madior Fall of attempting to bribe a judge. According to him, this situation morally exonerates the former Minister of Justice: "His indictment and placement under house arrest with an electronic tag no longer follow any legal logic. He must be free to move about as he pleases, just as MP Ngom must be released."
For Mamoudou Ibra Kane, these successive developments betray a certain nervousness at the top: "We now understand the reasons for the nervousness of some leading officials of the State-Pastef: everything is collapsing like a house of cards."
Solidarity with the "hostages" and the "sacrificed" civil servants
The journalist made sure to mention the plight of Senegalese supporters detained in Morocco, while also highlighting the existence of "hostages" within the country. He notably defended prison staff, citing the case of the director of the Rebeuss Special Pavilion, transferred to Nioro du Rip, and of a guard who had been arrested.
"Innocent civil servants are often victims of unjust sanctions and sacrificed on the altar of political interests that are beyond their control. And no one defends them," he lamented in conclusion.
