Modification du code électoral : Abdou Mbow dénonce une forfaiture et interpelle l’opinion
MP Abdou Mbow reacted strongly to bill no. 11/2026 amending articles L29 and L30 of the electoral code, which is scheduled for review in emergency procedure on Friday in the National Assembly.
Speaking at the general assembly of the Front for the Defense of Democracy and the Republic (FDR), held in Thiès, the parliamentarian denounced the conditions of introduction of the text, in particular the emergency convening of the conference of presidents.
According to him, this legislative initiative is driven by partisan considerations. "This law is tailor-made for their leader, Ousmane Sonko," he declared. He further asserts that the text has already been adopted in committee thanks to what he calls the "automatic majority" of the ruling coalition.
Abdou Mbow also criticized the timing chosen for the review of this reform. He pointed out that this initiative comes at the very moment when the Minister of the Interior has invited political and social stakeholders to a consultation scheduled for April 30th.
The MP considers this approach unseemly and sees it as a lack of respect for the ongoing dialogue process. "This injustice must be denounced. The law is general and impersonal," he insisted, calling on the active forces of civil society to take responsibility.
Finally, he raised concerns related to the organization of the upcoming local elections, pointing in particular to the lack of ordinary revision of the electoral lists as well as the delay in the publication of the electoral register.
