Nationalisation des ICS : Le PM a rencontré les anciens DG et responsables de l’entreprise
After the announcement, it's time for action. The State of Senegal is accelerating the process of regaining control of the Chemical Industries of Senegal (ICS) as announced by Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko on March 12, during the press conference presenting the work of the National Commission for the Re-evaluation and Renegotiation of Contracts.
"The State's intention is to take back all of the assets [of ICS], to define for ourselves what we want from our phosphates and this has already been done," the head of government declared, revealing that the State had been "seriously wronged" in this contract with a huge shortfall estimated at "1,075 billion CFA francs" caused by "illegally allocated tax exemptions."
Yesterday, Tuesday, April 14, 2026, the Prime Minister held a working session with former directors general and department heads of ICS to leverage their experience for the upcoming relaunch of the company.
"I think we have all the expertise here around this table to be able to reflect on the future of this flagship and see to what extent we can develop happier prospects," Ousmane Sonko stressed during the meeting.
Speaking after the PM, former MP and (retired) ICS executive, Pape Abdou Khadre Mbodj, expressed his satisfaction following the State's decision to take back control of this company.
In front of the Prime Minister, these former ICS officials decided to volunteer their time to this process of nationalization and revival of ICS activities.
