Nominations du Conseil des ministres : Guy Marius Sagna salue le limogeage de…
Among the appointments made at Wednesday's Council of Ministers meeting, a major reshuffle in the health sector stands out (see below). Notable among the changes is the appointment of Alioune Ibnou Talib Diouf to head the Senegalese Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (ARP), with Aïssatou Sougou taking over. Guy-Marius Sagna, who had been calling for Diouf's removal, celebrated in a post we have published below.
The post from MP Guy-Marius Sagna:
“In March 2025, a year ago, I submitted a written question to the Senegalese government asking them to rescind the appointment of the Director General of the Assembly of the Representatives of the People (ARP). This was long before the Softcare affair. I told the government that the ARP Director General had been implicated in drug trafficking, and they couldn't appoint someone with such a profile to head the ARP. The government never responded to my written question. Never!”
Results: Several months later, the SOFTCARE scandal and several other problems at the Assembly of the Representatives of the People (ARP) emerged. In December 2025, I again called for the dismissal of the Director General of the ARP. The government could and should have listened to me twelve (12) months ago. It is also part of a member of parliament's role to raise the alarm.
By dismissing the Director General of the Assembly of the Representatives of the People (ARP) today, the government has vindicated me. I hope the Senegalese government has learned the right lessons from this affair. The Health Minister's stance—never answering my written question and thus protecting him—raised enormous concerns.
As for us, we will continue to be the defenders of Jub Jubal, Jubbanti in controlling government action. The break with the past is underway in Senegal.
