Pastef : Ousmane Sonko brise le tabou de la transhumance et recadre la jeunesse du parti
Pastef is currently the largest party in Senegal, but it must continue to strengthen itself and broaden its base. This was the message delivered by Ousmane Sonko during his address to party activists. The Pastef leader called on the movement's leaders and grassroots members to be more open by welcoming new members, including those from other political parties. "Pastef is an open party. I urge the grassroots to be even more open in order to expand our ranks," he declared.
Speaking about the numerous requests he receives, Ousmane Sonko revealed that several prominent figures and activists want to join Pastef, but are hesitant because of the reaction of some of the party's younger members. "Many tell me they want to join, but they're afraid of the reaction from the younger generation. To them, I urge calm and composure," he stated.
To justify this open approach, the Pastef leader referred to the history of Islam, recalling that some of its fiercest opponents ended up embracing the religion: "Even the worst enemies of Islam have repented and ended up accepting this religion. You know the criteria by which we accept allies. Open yourselves up," he insisted.
Addressing the upcoming party congress, Ousmane Sonko stressed that the event should not be a mere formality. He called for an exceptional mobilization to demonstrate Pastef's organizational and popular strength. "The congress must not be simple. We must mobilize in large numbers, as usual. We are not one of those whose members can be counted," he declared, reaffirming the party's ambitions for growth and consolidation.
