Présidentielle 2029 : Maimouna Ndour Faye lance un avertissement à Diomaye
The alleged tensions at the top of the state, between President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and his Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, continue to fuel debates in the Senegalese political scene.
In this context, journalist Maimouna Ndour Faye delivered a sharp analysis on the prospects of the head of state's re-election.
During an appearance on a 7TV program, the media outlet's owner issued a clear warning to the Senegalese president: if he aspires to a second term in 2029, the Diomaye-President coalition will not be enough. "If President Bassirou Diomaye Faye wants a second term, this Diomaye-President coalition is not going to allow him to achieve it," she stated bluntly.
According to the journalist, the head of state should not be influenced by certain members of his coalition, whom she accuses of conducting a campaign aimed at weakening the candidacy of former president Macky Sall.
Maimouna Ndour Faye also believes that the former head of state remains a formidable political player with whom Diomaye Faye would benefit from dialogue if he wants to consolidate his political future.
She goes even further by suggesting a possible political deal, especially if Macky Sall were to become Secretary-General of the UN.
According to the journalist, the current coalition could instead serve as a base to welcome new, influential political allies, capable of strengthening the president's chances for a possible re-election.
