« Qu'il signe le décret » : Ousmane Sonko lance un défi à Diomaye Faye
At Dakar Arena, Ousmane Sonko delivered an unambiguous message regarding the upcoming elections, rejecting any possibility of postponement that would not respect the procedures stipulated by law. Addressing thousands of supporters, the leader of the Patriots party reiterated that the rules governing the electoral calendar cannot be altered at the whim of political actors. "Elections cannot be postponed without first passing an enabling act through the National Assembly," he declared.
For Sonko, respect for democratic institutions and procedures must prevail over all political considerations. It was in this spirit that he called on the President of the Republic to take responsibility by signing the decree necessary for organizing the election. "Let the President of the Republic sign the decree. If he has confidence in himself, let him face the music," he declared to the applause of his supporters.
According to him, no delaying tactic could alter the current political balance of power. "We are ready for the elections," he insisted.
