Rejet de la candidature de Macky Sall à l’ONU : Le FDR charge le régime PASTEF
The Front for the Defence of the Republic (FDR) strongly denounced the PASTEF regime's decision not to support Macky Sall's candidacy for the position of Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN), despite multiple calls to do so.
In a statement received by Seneweb, the Conference of Leaders of the FDR asserts that the government has remained "deaf" to requests from both trade unions and various political and civic organizations.
"The PASTEF regime has therefore rejected, after much maneuvering, the candidacy of President Macky Sall for the post of Secretary-General of the United Nations. It has thus remained deaf to the letter that the FDR, along with all the country's trade union federations, addressed to the President of the Republic. It has remained deaf to the petitions, letters and declarations from parties, organizations, and many Senegalese who, setting aside their political differences, had considered that this candidacy represented an opportunity for Senegal and Africa," the statement said.
The FDR also accuses the regime of having "concealed its intentions" and of having worked, "with duplicity", to compromise this candidacy on the national and international stages.
Citing Abraham Lincoln, opponents believe that "power cannot permanently deceive the people" and consider that the foundations of its failure are already laid in its current management.
Cybersecurity and governance: major concerns
Beyond this diplomatic affair, the FDR is raising the alarm about what it calls the "flawed management" of national data. "The government's negligence and irresponsibility are also blatantly apparent in its disastrous handling of our national data. Indeed, the regime is downplaying an unprecedented attack against this data, while the cybercriminal group Green Blood, specializing in ransomware attacks, is offering for sale on the dark web 139 terabytes of highly sensitive data (biometrics, identity, electoral files) originating from the DAF (Directorate of File Automation)! This is a serious threat to national security that demanded far more responsible behavior from the government, something it unfortunately seems far from understanding," the statement reads.
Electoral process: ambiguity and disputes
Domestically, the FDR also denounces the lack of transparency in the preparation of the territorial elections. It criticizes the government for denying political parties access to the electoral register, which it argues contradicts the Electoral Code.
Added to this is the lack of a clear electoral calendar and the blocking of the revision of the lists as well as consultations on territorial reform carried out without the opposition.
Broken promises and social crisis
The FDR also points to several commitments not respected by the authorities: the non-payment of announced family allowances, the non-reintegration of dismissed workers, the salary deductions not reimbursed to teachers, the lack of funding for the purchase of peanut crops.
In the agricultural sector, opponents denounce a difficult horticultural campaign, marked by significant losses and producers forced to sell off or destroy their produce due to a lack of outlets and storage infrastructure.
Faced with what it considers an accumulation of shortcomings, the FDR calls on the "vital forces of the nation" to mobilize to demand that the government respect its obligations in terms of governance and taking care of the essential needs of the population.
