Moussa Diaw, a political science lecturer and researcher at Gaston Berger University (UGB) in Saint-Louis, said that the new authorities' desire to refocus the "sovereign ministries" (Justice and Interior) around figures much closer to Pastef is in the natural order of things in politics, while stressing that this reshuffle reflects a new form of governance that is intended to be more discreet.
"This change is not at all surprising. A government is, above all, a team composed of elements sharing the same vision and who, through political struggle, come to power. Therefore, it is perfectly normal that it can implement this vision in all areas," he maintained.
For the academic, this technocratic management has not taken into account the political nature of these ministries, which are subject to intense pressure from Pastef officials and activists. "These appointments of more politically prominent profiles allow for a fair return to more common political practices. They reflect a desire to regain control of these two key sectors for the party, which is under pressure from former political prisoners demanding full light on the events of March 2021 and June 2024," he said, adding that the action of technocrats within the "sovereign ministries" has shown its limits by causing a rift between Pastef's activist base and the party's ruling elite.
According to Professor Diaw, this reshuffle reflects a desire to inject new momentum into government action, after seventeen months of management by the previous team. "This reshuffle reflects a new form of governance that is intended to be more discreet. After taking stock and eliminating shortcomings in many ministries, some of which have been restructured for greater clarity and efficiency, the authorities deemed it necessary to carry out this reshuffle," he concluded.

Les garde-côtes mauritaniens ont secouru 119 migrants en situation irrégulière à bord d'une embarcation au large de Mhaijratt, dans la wilaya de l'Inchiri.
