Secrétariat général de l’ONU : Tahirou Sarr soutient la candidature de Macky Sall
The candidacy of former President Macky Sall for the position of Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN) continues to fuel public debate. Faced with the controversy sparked by this announcement, Member of Parliament Tahirou Sarr has taken a stand.
The elected official invites Senegalese people to overcome political divisions to support what he calls a "national symbol".
"It is with a deep sense of national pride that we learned of this candidacy," says Tahirou Sarr, believing that seeing a son of Senegal vying for one of the highest international positions is an honor for the country, both on the national territory and within the diaspora.
Beyond internal political differences, the MP believes that this is a moment that should bring Senegalese people together.
"When the Senegalese flag is carried on the world stage, our differences must fade away in favor of unity, dignity and national honor," he argues.
According to him, this candidacy transcends partisan affiliations and must be considered from the perspective of the greater interest of the nation.
He recalls that Senegal has always been able to offer the world valuable women and men, capable of contributing to peace, dialogue and cooperation between peoples.
In the same vein, Tahirou Sarr calls upon the President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, to provide institutional support for this candidacy. As the guarantor of national unity, the Head of State is urged to transcend political divisions in order to support this ambition in the best interests of Senegal.
