Newly elected Speaker of the National Assembly, Ousmane Sonko, prayed this Thursday at the Massalikoul Jinaan Mosque. Mbackiou Faye, the official representative of the Mouride Caliph General in Dakar, stated that it was an honor for the head of the legislature to pray with them. He even emphasized that this was not the first time the now former Prime Minister had come to pray there. Mbackiou Faye also praised the fact that the Head of State had sent ministers to pray with them at the Massalikoul Jinaan Mosque.

Speaking to the press, Mbackiou Faye nevertheless addressed the current situation between Sonko and Diomaye. "I believe Ousmane Sonko and President Diomaye Faye are not in conflict. They must understand that they were elected, they promised us unity, and that promise must be sincere. Therefore, each of them must embrace this commitment to work together and move the country forward. But if they fight amongst themselves, things will deteriorate. It's true that we, the people, will lose a lot, but it is these two who will lose the most," stated Mbackiou Faye.

For him, therefore, it is time to pull themselves together: "People need to pull themselves together because time is against us, especially us small countries. We need everything. We have nothing."   We have no industries. We are consumers of the major powers who flood us with all their manufactured goods. Therefore, we must think about the development of this country.   "It's true that today, there should be political games. That's normal. But as long as it stays within the political framework, there's no problem. But we really need to think about these young people," he said.

Mbackiou Faye points out that these young people, who make up 75% of the Senegalese population, need everything: employment, education, healthcare, well-being, and so on. That is why he calls on political and non-political actors to "join forces so that Senegal can truly live in peace." He invites everyone to work towards peace and harmony.
