Thiès : accalmie entre Babacar Diop et Ousmane Diagne après la polémique sur le 4 Avril
Tensions appear to have eased between the mayor of Thiès, Babacar Diop, and the mayor of Thiès-Est, Ousmane Diagne, after the controversy surrounding the organization of the April 4th celebration in the railway capital.
As a reminder, Ousmane Diagne had publicly denounced Babacar Diop's attitude, accusing him of trying to hijack the organization of the Independence Day celebrations to use them as a tool for political promotion. This statement quickly fueled debate and sparked a heated controversy among local public opinion.
But a sign of appeasement was observed this Saturday during a medal ceremony honoring prominent figures in Thiès. Invited by the city's mayor, Ousmane Diagne attended the event.
During the ceremony, the two officials were seen sitting side by side, displaying a relaxed and fraternal attitude.
A symbolic image that suggests a return to calm between the two municipal officials, after several days of tension related to the organization of the national holiday.
This scene could thus mark the beginning of a rapprochement between the two local authorities, in the interest of cohesion and institutional stability within the city of Thiès.
