Thiès : le FDR lance sa grande offensive nationale contre les « dérives du pouvoir »

The Front for the Defense of Democracy and the Republic (FDR) has announced that it will hold its first general assembly for information and installation of its departmental coordination in Thiès, scheduled for this Saturday, April 25.

This meeting, according to the political movement, marks the starting point of a national dynamic of citizen mobilization in response to what it describes as a "worrying political context." In its statement, the FDR paints an alarming picture of the situation in Senegal, notably mentioning the increase in tensions, the weakening of the rule of law, and pressures on civil liberties.

The movement believes these developments constitute major warning signs that cannot be ignored. In this context, it affirms its refusal to remain silent, to resign itself, and to engage in any form of suppression of the popular will. The FDR has set as its priorities the protection of the rule of law, the guarantee of fundamental freedoms, and the promotion of more transparent and accountable governance. It intends to oppose any manipulation of institutions for political ends.

The general assembly in Thiès will not be solely dedicated to organizational matters. It should also allow for the official establishment of the departmental coordination, the presentation of a political roadmap, and the launch of a nationwide action plan. For the FDR, the railway city represents the starting point for a large-scale mobilization across the entire country.

The movement calls on young people, women, workers, and all citizens to get involved in what it calls a "democratic struggle." The FDR insists on the need for mobilization based on dignity and civic responsibility, asserting that democracy is not negotiable, it is defended. Finally, the Front reaffirms its determination to act firmly against what it considers institutional abuses, while remaining committed to upholding republican principles.

Il ne s'agit pas de dérives. C'est fait sciemment (ministre de la communication sur l'aide à la presse, les 5 milliards de francs distribués à des voyous...)
