« Un goût d’inachevé et trop d’ambiguïtés...» : Thierno Bocoum démonte la prestation du Pr. Diomaye
Thierno Bocoum, president of the AGIR-LES LEADERS movement, was not convinced by President Bassirou Diomaye Faye's recent remarks during his major interview. In a scathing attack, he denounced the president's "evasive" speech and what he considered a worrying stance.
According to him, the President has remained silent on essential issues, preferring to hide behind a recurring "we are working on it," which has become "too convenient to serve as a substitute for a commitment." He believes this is a way of avoiding the clear answers expected by the Senegalese people.
Moreover, Thierno Bocoum points to an imbalance in presidential communication. "The head of state has been more forthcoming about his contribution to his party than about his contribution to the country," he criticizes, seeing in this a confusion between political responsibility and partisan commitment.
In his analysis, he also notes a subtle interplay between "we" and "I." The former serves to dilute national responsibility, while the latter reflects an assertive appropriation of power when it comes to the party. This stance, he argues, raises questions about the concept of power.
On the sensitive issue of political funds, Bocoum refers to "yet another betrayal" and denounces a government line that he considers fluctuating, "adjusted according to circumstances rather than guided by a clear vision."
Regarding institutional reform, he questions the President's ability to steer it. "When a parliamentary majority from his own party can pass a law without his approval, it can also reshape his plans according to its interests," he warns, pointing to a weakening of political authority.
Another point of contention is the regime's neutrality regarding Macky Sall's candidacy. Bocoum considers this position implausible, citing public pronouncements by former government members as evidence of a lack of coherence at the highest levels of government.
Finally, regarding the relationship between the President and his Prime Minister, he highlights a major contradiction. While confidence is displayed, the Head of State is, according to him, publicly contradicted without reacting. "While you are justifying your position, others are asserting themselves," he summarizes.
In conclusion, Thierno Bocoum calls for greater clarity, consistency, and authority in the conduct of public affairs. "Senegal can no longer be satisfied with ambiguities. It deserves clear leadership and a strong voice from the highest levels of government," he asserts.
