Ziguinchor : la coalition Diomaye‑Président prône unité et cohésion face aux crises

In a political context marked by an institutional crisis at the highest levels of government and a difficult socio-economic situation affecting the daily lives of Senegalese citizens, leaders of the Diomaye-President coalition in Ziguinchor reaffirmed their commitment to building a dynamic of unity and solidarity. Gathered for a regional meeting, they issued clear calls for cohesion, transparency, and civic engagement, convinced that only collective mobilization can meet the current challenges.

The meeting's initiator, Dr. Jean-Bernard Diatta, emphasized the need to overcome attacks and divisions to promote the Diomaye Plan for Casamance. "Our objective is to help, to showcase, and to make His Excellency Bassirou Diomaye Faye's policies heard," he declared, before reiterating that the key is to unite all social strata around development. He also clarified the relationship with PASTEF: "The President of the Republic himself stated that he is a member of PASTEF. Therefore, there is no rivalry; we will work hand in hand to unite all active forces."

Sidy Makhtar Coly, a founding member of the coalition at the national level, for his part emphasized transparency and democracy in the construction of the coalition.

For him, unity requires strong and inclusive leadership. "We need strong work, a symbol of essential social and political cohesion," he stressed, emphasizing that regional coordination must be built on clear foundations: choice of offices, organization of local structures and respect for democratic principles.

He also highlighted the central role of women and young people as figures of openness and transparency.

Professor Ansouma Diatta, a tenured university professor and member of the coalition's university cell, delivered a frank analysis of the national situation. "The average household's budget has changed significantly, and the daily life of Senegalese people has deteriorated," he observed, before adding: "The president alone cannot manage this nation."

Senegal belongs to everyone; everyone must contribute. For him, unity and serenity are the only ways to overcome the institutional and socio-economic crisis. His message is a call for peace and collective action: "We must all try to contribute so that Senegal can stand tall and prosper."

Following this meeting, regional leaders reaffirmed their commitment to working hand in hand, remaining faithful to the directives of President Bassirou Diomaye Faye. The upcoming establishment of municipal and departmental branches is seen as a crucial step toward expanding the coalition's reach in villages and neighborhoods. For the initiators, unity is the essential condition for building lasting social cohesion and driving Senegal's development.
