The death of a 26-year-old delivery man, which occurred in suspicious circumstances in the Medina, has led the local police station to open an investigation for violent or suspicious death.

On April 27, 2026, at 1:35 PM, the Medina district police station received a report of a violent or suspicious death. The document was presented by the victim's father: his son, Pape Ibra Diallo, 26 years old, a delivery driver residing in the ZAC Mbao neighborhood, had just succumbed to his injuries at Dakar's Principal Hospital, according to Seneweb sources.

He had been admitted to intensive care three days earlier, after falling from the top of the 3rd floor of a building located on street 37x28 in the Medina, on April 24, 2026.

What immediately struck investigators was that neither the victim's family nor his employer had deemed it necessary to alert the police at the time of the incident. They had simply called the fire department to transfer the injured man to the hospital, without any intervention from law enforcement.

The circumstances of the fall

The statements of the victim's employer, Chinese national Yin Shui Sheng, shed initial light on the sequence of events. He runs his business in the building in question and also occupies an apartment on the third floor. On April 24, while the employees were at work, Pape Ibra Diallo suddenly disappeared without anyone immediately raising any concerns.

It was the employer's mother, who was alone in the apartment as usual, who raised the alarm by calling her son to report the presence of an individual she suspected of being an intruder or thief.

The employer immediately dispatched his security guard to go up to the 3rd floor and assess the situation. But even before he reached the floor, a sharp noise was heard from the balcony below.

Upon rushing to the scene, witnesses discovered Pape Ibra Diallo lying on the ground, still conscious at that moment.

The employer contacted his brother and called the fire brigade, who urgently transported the injured man to the Principal Hospital in Dakar, still without informing the police.

An autopsy to establish the truth

Three days after his fall, Pape Ibra Diallo died in intensive care. His father then went to the Medina police station to report the death. Given the unanswered questions surrounding his death—the exact circumstances of the fall, the young delivery driver's presence in a private apartment, and the silence from those around him—investigators requested an autopsy from Dakar's Principal Hospital to determine the exact cause of death.
