Pikine : selfie en uniforme de douanier, l'ex-agent des Eaux et Forêts démasqué
Found guilty of impersonating a public official, PN Sané was sentenced for defrauding a client who wanted to buy a diesel vehicle. To trap his victim, El H. Faye, according to L'Observateur, which attended the hearing, he relied on an effective setup, even going so far as to send him a photo of himself "strapped into a Customs uniform" to bolster his credibility.
Presenting himself as an influential customs officer, Sané used the pretext of customs clearance procedures to obtain an advance of 950,000 FCFA. Suspicion only arose later, when the victim connected the transaction to a similar dispute involving the same individual.
At the hearing, the prosecutor reminded the court that PN Sané had been "dismissed from the Forestry Service," emphasizing the seriousness of his behavior. Despite his attempt to present himself as a simple customs broker, the prosecution denounced a deliberate maneuver, arguing that the uniform had been used as bait to deceive the victim.
At the end of the trial, the newspaper of the Future Media Group reports, the court acquitted K. Diagne due to reasonable doubt. However, PN Sané was found guilty and sentenced to six months in prison. He will also have to reimburse the remaining 600,000 FCFA, after an initial payment of 350,000 FCFA made at the hearing.
