Rufisque : Un élève tue un ouvrier lors d'une bagarre
A bloody tragedy shook the Santhiaba district of Rufisque on the night of April 9-10, 2026. A street fight between two neighbors turned into a fatal tragedy, costing the life of a young Gambian worker.
Around 11 p.m., in an alley in Santhiaba, Mouhamed Dramé, 24, a worker at Sen'Eau, of Gambian nationality, finds himself in a confrontation with Gaoussou Niang Diop, 22, a student, his neighbor from the neighborhood.
The altercation quickly escalated. Gaoussou Niang Diop stabbed his victim violently in the left thigh. Mouhamed Dramé collapsed in a pool of blood. His uncle, Ousseynou Dramé, alerted around 11 p.m., had him rushed to the Youssou Mbargane Diop Hospital in Rufisque. Despite the care provided, he died around 5 a.m., according to Seneweb sources.
On April 10, 2026, at 12:30 PM, the Rufisque Central Police Station received a report of violent death from the hospital. An investigation was immediately launched to find the suspect.
A few hours later, the suspect, Gaoussou Niang Diop, turned himself in at the police station. His uncle revealed that he had been threatened by relatives of the victim. The alleged murderer himself had a wound on his right knee for which he had reportedly received treatment at Guédji Hospital.
Placed in police custody in a secure cell, Gaoussou Niang Diop will now answer for his actions before the courts. Prosecutor Cheikh Diakhoumpa, head of the Rufisque prosecutor's office, has been informed of the facts.
