AfroBasket 2025 : Le Sénégal connaît son adversaire pour les barrages
After their brilliant 80-70 victory over Mali, which secured second place in Group D, Senegal now know their opponents for the quarter-final playoffs. Jean Jacques Boissy's teammates will face South Sudan on Monday. A match that promises to be thrilling between two ambitious teams, determined to clinch the continental crown.
A young basketball nation, South Sudan has made tremendous progress on the African stage, both in the boys' and girls' competitions. As proof, during its first participation in the last women's Afrobasket in Côte d'Ivoire, it secured third place by beating Senegal in the classification match.
For this play-off, Ngagne Desagana Diop's men know what to expect. Even though South Sudan suffered two defeats in the group stage against Guinea and Angola, they remain a solid and talented team that Senegal will have to take very seriously if they want to be in the Top 8.
