AfroBasket 2025: le Sénégal visera le bronze, le Mali rêve du titre
Senegal will not reach the AfroBasket 2025 final. Beaten by Mali in an intense West African derby, the Lions are now playing for the bronze medal against Cameroon. Meanwhile, our Malian neighbors will be trying to win their first continental title in history against Angola.
Badio: "It's always an honor to wear this jersey"
Despite the defeat, Captain Brancou Badio keeps his head high and insists on the importance of the experience gained.
"It's always an honor to wear the Senegal jersey. I've gained a lot of experience in this AfroBasket with my teammates, the coach, and the staff. Above all, we're a family. We'll support each other and look to the future."
Lucid, he puts the offensive failure of the semi-final into perspective: "I would say it's just a basketball game. Sometimes you score, sometimes you miss, but you have to keep playing, defending, and doing the little things. Today we didn't make our shots, but life goes on. What matters is how we grow from this loss."
Diop: "It's not easy, but we have to keep pushing"
Coach DeSagana Diop didn't hide his disappointment after the elimination: "It's tough, I'm not going to sleep tonight, but that's basketball, that's life. You keep going, you work. Like I said, it's a very young team. Four years seems like a long time, but time goes by quickly."
He prefers to focus on world qualification and the future of his group: "At this point, we'll keep working. We have qualified for the World Cup. It's not easy at this point, but that's life. Life is never easy. You always have to move forward, keep pushing."
Coulibaly: “A Malian is all heart”
On the other hand, there is immense joy in Mali. Speaking exclusively to Seneweb, Mahamane Coulibaly shared his emotion after this historic qualification:
“Yes, that was the goal. I’m proud to be Malian. When you see the green, yellow, and red on the jersey… here, we say: a Malian is all heart. We support our players and our coaches, we respect everyone, and we play our game.”
With less than 24 hours to go before the grand final against Angola, he remains focused: "We'll celebrate a little, then try to recover quickly to be ready."
Tonight, Angola (qualified for the first time in ten years) and Mali will battle it out for the continental title. Senegal will have the chance to reach the podium against Cameroon, in a third-place finish that remains a source of pride for the Lions.

La FIBA doit se concentrer sur la supervision de l'arbitrage.
Il ne saurait être question d'avoir recours à des pratiques non sportives ou détournées pour priver les Aigles du Mali d'une victoire finale qui apparaît très probable.
Un Peuple- Un But- Une Foi
On ne vise que le bronze qu,on risque de ne jamais toucher
