Algérie : Un cadre de la selection déclare forfait pour la CAN-2025
A major blow for the Algerian national team. Youcef Belaïli, 33, will miss the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), scheduled to take place in Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026. According to Tunisian radio station Mosaïque FM, the Espérance de Tunis winger suffered a serious injury yesterday, Sunday, during the derby against Club Africain (0-0). The player is believed to have torn the cruciate ligaments in his right knee, an injury that will sideline him for several months.
African champion in 2019 and key attacking player for the Fennecs, Youssef Belaïli joins the list of notable absentees already included by Amine Gouiri. The Olympique de Marseille striker underwent surgery on his right shoulder in mid-October, also jeopardizing his participation in the AFCON.
A double blow for the national coach, Vladimir Petkovic, who will have to cope without two key players in his attacking sector.
