Basket-Éliminatoires Mondial 2027: Le Sénégal corrige Madagascar et se relance
Senegal responded perfectly. Beaten in their opening match by Ivory Coast, the Lions secured a resounding victory against Madagascar (99-63), during the second window of the 2027 World Cup qualifiers held at the Marius Ndiaye arena.
Seeking a win to get back on track in Group B, the Senegalese quickly showed their intentions. They won the first quarter (22-19) before significantly accelerating in the second. More aggressive on defense and efficient on offense, the Lions inflicted a resounding 32-12 run on their opponents to head into halftime with a comfortable 54-31 lead.
Upon returning from the locker room, Senegal maintained the pressure. The third quarter (28-17) confirmed the dominance of Desagana Diop's men in one-on-one battles and their disciplined execution. With a comfortable lead, the Lions eased off slightly in the final quarter, narrowly conceding a 17-18 deficit that ultimately had no bearing on the outcome of the game.
Thanks to this clear victory (99-63), Senegal gets back on track and moves into second place in the group in these 2027 World Cup qualifiers.
The Lions will face the DRC tomorrow for their final match of the tournament at 9pm.
