Bayern Munich : les débuts de Bara Sapoko Ndiaye déclenchent une «guerre d’argent» au Sénégal
Bara Sapoko Ndiaye's first Bundesliga appearance, during Bayern Munich's resounding 5-0 victory over FC St. Pauli, has sparked a heated controversy in Senegal. According to L'Observateur, which broke the story, a battle over sporting rights is raging between ASC Mbaxaan of Thiès and Sénégal Élite Stars of Ziguinchor, each side claiming to have developed the 18-year-old Senegalese prodigy.
The accusation of plunder
In an interview with the newspaper of the Groupe Futurs Médias (GFM), the president of ASC Mbaxaan, former minister Yankhoba Diattara, denounced a fraudulent scheme orchestrated by Seydou Sané. He stated that "Seydou Sané fabricated a license for Bara Ndiaye without his knowledge," even though the player initially belonged to the Thiès club before being transferred to the Gambian academy Gambinos Stars Africa.
For the Mbaxaan manager, this is nothing more than an attempt at extortion. He insists that the Casa Sports official "is just trying to force the issue by acquiring the young player" in order to deprive his original club of future financial benefits. According to him, this license, issued in January 2025, is merely a sham, since the player has never even set foot in Ziguinchor.
"I signed a free agent."
Faced with these serious accusations, Seydou Sané, acting on behalf of Sénégal Élite Stars, rejects them outright, citing FIFA regulations. Quoted by the same source, he firmly defends the legality of his actions, stating: "I signed a free agent because he hadn't played for two years."
According to him, his opponent's argument betrays a lack of understanding of sports regulations, explaining that once an amateur player remains inactive, "he is like a player without a club." The newspaper's source also specifies that he has the necessary parental authorizations. Finally, he asserts that the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) has already ruled in favor of his position, indicating, according to him, that the player is no longer under the jurisdiction of ASC Mbaxaan.
Huge financial stakes
At the heart of this confrontation, as highlighted by the Gfm headline, lie FIFA's training and solidarity mechanisms. These mechanisms stipulate a redistribution of 5% of transfer fees to training clubs through the FIFA Clearing House. While Seydou Sané believes he acted within the rules, Yankhoba Diattara maintains his reservations. Although he does not wish to disrupt the player's development at this stage, he does not rule out taking legal action starting in June.
