Boy Kaïré : «Bira Sène veut imposer cette règle, mais...»
The adoption of the new general regulations of the Senegalese Wrestling Federation (FSL) last Sunday sparked a heated controversy within the wrestling community. According to Record, Article 3 is particularly contentious.
Who is being targeted?
The article in question clearly stipulates that "no father, mother, or brother can manage their son or brother," reports the sports daily. This provision effectively excludes several wrestling figures who, until now, managed the careers of their relatives. Those directly affected include De Gaulle, Boy Kaïré, Tapha Gueye, Serigne Ndiaye, and Ibou Diouf, the specialized newspaper lists.
Boy Kaïré's response
Boy Kaïré, whose real name is Meïssa Diaw, denounces a unilateral decision and announces an offensive on several fronts. He plans, in particular, to bring together former champions to challenge the legitimacy of this text.
"We are going to challenge article 3 which prohibits a parent from managing their son. We are going to form a collective... The fight does not belong to them, they must stop," he insists, as reported by Record.
The former wrestler intends to take the fight to the highest levels of the state to protect, he says, the work of the Minister of Sports, Khady Diène Gaye:
“We will contact the Minister of Sports to let him know that we do not agree with this regulation… If she does not react, we will contact the President of the Republic. Bira Sène and his team should not sabotage the Minister’s work,” he warned.
Suspicions of "quid pro quo"
Finally, he drives the point home by highlighting the Federation's true motivations behind this reform:
"Bira Sène wants to impose this rule because during the elections, managers supported him while simultaneously stipulating that he would exclude the wrestlers' parents once elected. It's unfair."
