CAN-2025 : Le jury d’appel de la CAF donne match perdu au Sénégal face au Maroc
The appeals jury of the Confederation of African Football declared Senegal the loser by forfeit (0-3) against Morocco, in its decision issued this Tuesday regarding the final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations played in Morocco.
In an official statement, the body announced that the appeal filed by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation was deemed admissible and well-founded, resulting in the annulment of the initial decision of the disciplinary jury.
The appeals jury determined that the behavior of the Senegalese team constituted a violation of the competition regulations, justifying the application of a forfeit loss.
The CAF also ruled on other aspects of the case. The sanction against Moroccan player Ismaël Saibari was reduced to a two-match suspension, one of which was suspended, while the fine imposed on him was cancelled.
Furthermore, the FRMF's responsibility regarding the ball boys' conduct was acknowledged, with the fine reduced. Other financial penalties, particularly those related to incidents around the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) zone and the use of lasers, were partially maintained and reduced.
All other requests were rejected, the statement said.
