In a statement released today, the Conference of Leaders of the Front for the Defense of Democracy and the Republic (FDR) has strongly denounced the decision by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Appeals Jury to strip the Senegalese national team of its victory in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. The FDR labeled the decision as "unjust" and "unacceptable," arguing that the jury was not legally convened, as several members were not properly summoned.
The FDR expressed its solidarity with the players of the national team, the Senegalese Football Federation, and the Senegalese people.
The organization declared its support for the measures taken by the Government to ensure the trophy remains the property of those who rightfully won it on the pitch. The Conference of Leaders strongly condemned the behavior of CAF officials, which they say "so severely tarnishes both Africa and its football."
Finally, the FDR demanded the immediate release of Senegalese supporters it described as being "held hostage" in Rabat since the final. It called on Moroccan authorities to end what it termed a "comic theater" that honors neither the two peoples nor their long-standing fraternal relations.
