CAN-2025 : Les révélations du SG de la FSF Abdoulaye Sow sur les arbitres de la finale
The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final continues to generate controversy, especially after the recent decision by the CAF appeals board to strip Senegal of the trophy. Appearing this Saturday on AFO Media's "Moment of Truth" program, the Secretary General of the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF), Abdoulaye Sow, denounced the treatment of Senegal by the CAF's judicial body during the investigation of the case.
"All the referees in this final have the same nationality."
He also made revelations about the referees for the final. "It was on the eve of the final, at 10 p.m., that we were notified of the referee appointments… This refereeing trio had only officiated two matches (during this AFCON). The opening match for Morocco and the final for Morocco. For the two assistant referees, it was their first AFCON. Even better, the practice is that the final is a celebration. They bring in the best referees from different countries. But we notice that all the referees for this final have the same nationality. They are Congolese. The president of the Referees Committee is Congolese, the CAF Secretary General is Congolese," revealed Abdoulaye Sow.
For Senegal, all of this seemed suspicious.
"We had an extremely difficult match (against the DRC) in September 2025 in Kinshasa."
Secretary General Abdoulaye Sow recalls that there had already been tensions between Senegal and the DRC during a World Cup qualifying match in Kinshasa.
“We had an extremely difficult match (against the DRC) in September 2025 in Kinshasa, where 100,000 spectators almost attacked us. The match was stopped for a few minutes. To this day, there has been no sanction, even though the stadium was ransacked. The only person sanctioned for that match is the Secretary General of the Senegalese Football Federation…,” said Mr. Sow.
He remains convinced that "everything was organized so that Senegal would lose the final" of the 2025 AFCON.
