CAN basket fauteuil roulant : Le Sénégal tombe en demi-finales face au Maroc
Senegal's dream of reaching the final at the African Wheelchair Basketball Championship has vanished. Facing Morocco in the semi-finals on Wednesday, the Lions were defeated 47-55, in a hard-fought match that was, on the whole, controlled by the Moroccans.
From the opening quarter, the Senegalese were put under pressure by a disciplined and efficient Moroccan team, particularly in controlling the tempo of the game. At halftime, Senegal were already trailing by four points (25-29), suggesting a decisive second half.
Despite a late rally after the break, the Lions were unable to close the gap. Morocco maintained their lead thanks to superior teamwork, securing their place in the final.
This defeat puts a halt to Senegal's impressive progress in the tournament. The Lions had, however, delivered a strong performance in the quarter-finals, with a resounding victory against Egypt (65-25), following a solid run in the group stage.
Senegal will now have to regroup for the 3rd place match, with the ambition of securing a place on the podium and ending the competition on a high note.
