CAN Maroc-2025 : L’Algérie s’impose face au Burkina Faso et file en 8es de finale
Four days after their impressive 3-0 victory against Sudan, Algeria secured a second consecutive win in Group E. The Fennecs triumphed over Burkina Faso (1-0) in a hard-fought match.
In a tight and evenly matched game, the winner came from a set piece. Following a foul on Algerian defender Rayan Aït-Nouri, the referee pointed to the penalty spot. Fennecs captain Riyad Mahrez stepped up to take the penalty and calmly converted it with his left foot (23rd minute).
In the second half, the Stallions of Burkina Faso threw everything into the battle to try and equalize, launching attack after attack. But they were unable to break through a well-organized Algerian defense and an imperious Luca Zidane.
In the end, Algeria prevailed thanks to Riyad Mahrez's third goal in three matches. This second consecutive victory secures the Fennecs' qualification for the Round of 16 of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
