"Cette élimination fait mal...": Le message fort de Ibrahim Mbaye
Senegal's elimination in the round of 32 of the 2026 World Cup continues to stir strong emotions. Among the players most affected is Ibrahim Mbaye, who reacted publicly a few hours after the Lions of Teranga's heartbreaking defeat against Belgium.
At just 18 years old, the young Paris Saint-Germain striker was playing in his first World Cup with the Senegalese national team. Coming on as a substitute, he witnessed the incredible turnaround that saw Senegal, despite leading 2-0, lose and exit the competition prematurely.
On his Instagram account, the young international player did not hide his sadness. He did, however, thank the fans and reaffirm his commitment to the national team.
“We dreamed of going further, and this elimination hurts. Despite the disappointment, I am proud to have worn this jersey and defended the colors of our country in this World Cup. We will come back with even more determination. Thank you all for your support. Senegal Rek forever! Al hamdoulilah…,” he wrote.
This message reflects the frustration of a group that harbored great ambitions for this World Cup, but also their determination to bounce back. Despite this disappointment, Ibrahim Mbaye remains one of the young talents on whom Senegal is counting to build its future, with the hope of returning stronger in future international competitions.
