Coupe d'Angleterre: Chelsea rejoint Manchester City en finale
Chelsea and their captain Enzo Fernandez, the only goalscorer of the day, eliminated Leeds (1-0) by the narrowest of margins on Sunday at Wembley to join Manchester City in the FA Cup final.
The Blues will play their first "Cup" final since 2022 (defeat against Liverpool) on May 16 against an opponent who has played in the last three, with one title (2023) and two failures (2024 and 2025) to their credit.
Meanwhile, Sunday's success lightens the atmosphere within the London club, four days after the dismissal of coach Liam Rosenior, replaced until the end of the season by interim coach Calum McFarlane.
A title in the oldest club competition in the world could become more than a consolation prize as it offers a ticket to the Europa League, something Chelsea is not certain to obtain through the league.
The winner of the last Club World Cup is indeed in eighth place in the Premier League, after a catastrophic series of five defeats (without scoring a goal) which proved fatal to Rosenior.
At Wembley, in front of more than 82,500 spectators, the Blues clung to the goal scored in the middle of the first period by Enzo Fernandez, with a header from a cross by Pedro Neto (23rd).
