Coupe du Roi: le Real sorti par un club de D2 pour la première d'Arbeloa sur le banc

Real Madrid were eliminated in the round of 16 of the Copa del Rey by the D2 club Albacete (3-2), in the first match for their new coach Alvaro Arbeloa, appointed on Monday.

Real Madrid were completely powerless against the 17th-placed team in La Liga 2, in front of goalkeeper Arbeloa. The 42-year-old former right-back, who had been managing the reserve team, replaced his former teammate Xabi Alonso as first-team manager on Monday, after Alonso was sacked the day after the Super Cup defeat against FC Barcelona (3-2).
