Crise post-CAN 2025 : Motsepe veut tourner la page et réaffirme l’autorité du TAS
On an official visit to Senegal, CAF President Patrice Motsepe addressed the controversies surrounding the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final. In a press conference, he called on all parties to overcome tensions while reaffirming his commitment to the principles of justice and good governance.
"Everything that happened during the AFCON-2025 final is now behind us," he said in a clear attempt to calm things down.
The South African leader, however, reiterated that the legal process is continuing. "The case is now before the CAS and its ruling will be accepted," he stated, referring to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, which is responsible for resolving this dispute.
Beyond this specific case, Motsepe emphasized the need to strengthen the integrity of African football. He stressed the importance of combating corruption to ensure impartial and transparent decision-making within governing bodies, a priority he described as essential for the future of football on the continent.
The CAF president also reaffirmed his institution's commitment to working for the credibility and influence of African football.
According to him, continuous reforms are essential to consolidate the confidence of federations, players and supporters.
Finally, he emphasized the principle of fairness among the 54 CAF member associations. "We are very strict about fairness with all nations," he stressed, highlighting the desire to guarantee fair and equal treatment for each country.
