Demi-finales Ligue des champions : Atlético Madrid et Arsenal se neutralisent
Atlético Madrid hosted Arsenal on Wednesday for the second UEFA Champions League semi-final. The two sides, who had already met in the group stage (Arsenal winning 4-0), once again delivered a thrilling duel that ended in a 1-1 draw.
In a very intense match, Arsenal opened the scoring first. Viktor Gyökeres, fouled in the penalty area, won a penalty which he himself converted (44th minute).
Thanks to the goal from the Swedish international striker, the Gunners went into the dressing room with a one-goal lead.
In the second half, the Spaniards laid siege to the English goal. In the 55th minute, Atlético were awarded a penalty after a handball by Ben White. Julián Álvarez, tasked with taking the spot-kick, made no mistake and equalized for Los Colchoneros.
More aggressive in their attacks, Atlético could have won the game if Antoine Griezmann's shot hadn't hit the crossbar (67th minute).
In the end, the two teams drew (1-1). The return leg in London is already shaping up to be a fiercely contested match.
