Équipe nationale du Cameroun : André Onana menacé d’une sanction sévère par la Fecafoot
Cameroonian international goalkeeper André Onana could face a heavy sanction after his recent statements targeting Samuel Eto'o, the president of the Cameroonian Football Federation (Fecafoot).
During a TikTok live stream in mid-April, the Trabzonspor goalkeeper made some unambiguous statements: he asserted that he had no disagreement with the national team or the Cameroonian Football Federation (Fecafoot), but rather denounced a conflict with "an individual" whom he accused of exploiting the institution and the Indomitable Lions for personal gain. He also uttered a loaded phrase: "If you don't agree, we'll drop you," creating a palpable tension.
According to Sport News Africa, the Onana case is expected to be examined at the next Fecafoot General Assembly. Among the sanctions being considered is a multi-year suspension from the national team.
Initially, Samuel Eto'o considered an immediate sanction, before abandoning it under pressure from his entourage, anxious to avoid a decision perceived as arbitrary.
Already sidelined from recent events, notably the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the March 2026 gathering, following the replacement of Marc Brys by David Pagou as head of the national team, the 30-year-old goalkeeper seems to be moving further away from the Indomitable Lions anyway.
According to those close to him, a return to the national team is not on the agenda as long as the current management remains in place.
