Espagne : un match de Liga interrompu après des insultes racistes
Once again, the anti-racism protocol has been triggered in the Spanish Liga, more than a week after a previous incident that had already shaken European football with the Gianluca Prestianni-Vinicius affair. This time, the events occurred during the match between Elche CF and RCD Espanyol (2-2).
In the 80th minute, Elche's right-back, Moroccan Omar El Hilali (22 years old), reported to the referee that he had been the target of racist insults from opposing striker Rafa Mir (28 years old). In accordance with the rules, the referee immediately stopped the match to speak with his assistants and explain the situation to both benches.
After a few minutes' suspension, the match finally resumed. Ironically, Espanyol equalized shortly afterwards, from a penalty converted by… Rafa Mir.
