Ex-Lion et pionnier en NBA : Makhtar Ndiaye se confie sur Michael Jordan
Interviewed by L'Observateur, Makhtar Ndiaye, advisor to the president of the Senegalese Basketball Federation (FSBB), retraces his exceptional career that led him to become the first Senegalese to play in the NBA. Trained at the Jeanne d'Arc in Dakar, he continued his training in Tunisia, then in France, before moving to the United States, where he was spotted during an international tournament in Nantes. He then joined the prestigious Oak Hill Academy, then the universities of Michigan and North Carolina, where Michael Jordan also graduated.
Although he went undrafted, Makhtar Ndiaye signed an NBA contract with the Vancouver Grizzlies before a shoulder injury put a stop to his career. The newspaper's interviewee said he was proud to have paved the way for a generation of Senegalese players such as DeSagana Diop, Gorgui Dieng, and Pape Sow.
His relationship with Michael Jordan began during summer training sessions in North Carolina. The former Lion describes the American legend as the most fabulous player in the history of basketball and says he was honored to have been able to rub shoulders with such a legend in such a prestigious setting.

Huum! Il a défié Michael Jordan à l'Université de North Carolina en prétendant ne pas le connaître et la légende de la NBA l'a humilié basket ball à la main, sur le terrain.
