Fenêtre de mars : le Sénégal rejette l’Argentine et l’Espagne par loyauté envers...
Senegal declined prestigious offers from Argentina and Spain for a friendly match scheduled for March 31, preferring to honor its commitment to Gambia. "The Argentinians, the reigning world champions, wanted to come to Senegal to challenge the Lions at the Abdoulaye Wade Stadium in Diamniadio on March 31, while Spain, the European champions, sent an invitation for a match at the Stade de France," reports SourceA.
According to information gathered following the meeting of the Executive Committee of the Senegalese Football Federation (Comex), held this Monday, this same logic led the president of Senegalese football, Abdoulaye Fall, not to follow up on the Spanish offer.
The governing body is thus prioritizing good neighborly diplomacy: "For reasons of loyalty and diplomacy, the Senegalese governing body, through its president, deemed it necessary to maintain the match against the Gambian Scorpions. Senegal and Gambia have long-standing diplomatic and friendly relations. These two countries share almost the same history and cultures. For Abdoulaye Fall, preserving this cohesion is essential," the same source concludes.
