Gana Guèye : « Ce match face au Pérou, c’est l’occasion pour nous de retrouver la diaspora »
On the eve of the friendly match between Senegal and Peru, this Saturday at the Stade de France, Gana Guèye held a press conference in front of journalists to address several questions.
When captain Kalidou Koulibaly raises the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) trophy to the cheers this Saturday at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis, a great memory will resurface in people's minds: that of Senegal's victory at the 2025 CAN, following a suffocating final won against Morocco (0-1).
For Gana Gueye, Saturday's Senegal-Peru match is more than just a friendly: it's an opportunity to celebrate their African Cup of Nations title. "This match is a chance for us to reconnect with the diaspora. Playing for the national team means representing Senegal," the Everton midfielder affirmed.
Gana wanted to connect with fans in the diaspora, encouraging them to come to Paris in large numbers. "We experienced intense emotions, and nothing can replace them. It's a national achievement. We deserve to be African champions. We were serious both on and off the pitch," the Lions' vice-captain declared.
The reigning African champions arrive at the Stade de France in a festive atmosphere. A show featuring Booba and Youssou Ndour will take place in Paris, a city with a large immigrant community.
This will be only the second time in the history of the Saint-Denis stadium that an international match between two foreign nations will be held there, after Tunisia-Brazil in 2022.
