Ibrahima Mbaye : « Chaque point comptera, à nous de faire la différence »
On the eve of the 2026 World Cup, Ibrahima Mbaye gave an interview to the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF). The Lions player discussed Senegal's ambitions, the final preparation match against Saudi Arabia, and the dream of one day winning the World Cup.
Focused on the Lions' next match, Mbaye refuses to underestimate Saudi Arabia, Senegal's opponent before their entry into the competition.
"Saudi Arabia is a good team. We will do everything to win, but you should never underestimate your opponent. We will put in place what is necessary to achieve victory."
Even though France is already on the horizon, the PSG player insists on the need to remain focused on each stage of the preparation. "France is a very strong team, undoubtedly one of the best nations in the world. But we are going to fight and give everything to try and win."
When asked about his impressive record, including titles won at club and national level, Ibrahima Mbaye acknowledges that the World Cup represents the ultimate dream for any footballer.
“Winning a World Cup is every player’s dream. Of course I dream about it. But to achieve that, you have to win matches and try to go as far as possible.”
With one week to go before Senegal's first match in the tournament, the team's mindset is resolutely focused on victory. "Everyone wants to win. We feel good and we are going to put in all the necessary ingredients to make a successful start to the competition."
Ibrahima also wanted to acknowledge the constant support of the Senegalese people: "Thank you to all Senegalese people for their support. The fans are very important to us and give us a lot of strength."
