Italie : Boulaye Dia et la Lazio filent en finale
The end of the season is smiling on the Senegalese internationals. After Nicolas Jackson, Abdallah Sima, Yehvann Diouf and Antoine Mendy, it is Boulaye Dia's turn to secure his ticket to a final, in this case that of the Italian Cup.
Seven years after their last appearance at this stage of the competition, Lazio will have another opportunity to lift the trophy. Facing Atalanta in the semi-finals, the Biancocelesti had to fight until the very end. After a 2-2 draw in the first leg, they secured their qualification on Wednesday away from home, in a tense match that ended 1-1, before winning 2-1 on penalties.
The architect of this qualification was Edoardo Motta. Decisive in key moments, the Roma goalkeeper shone in the decisive penalty shootout, allowing his team to overturn a seemingly hopeless situation. Despite a favorable start for Atalanta, Lazio maintained their composure to secure the victory, with the match ending 3-3 on aggregate and ultimately prevailing in the penalty shootout.
Despite remaining on the bench during the match, Boulaye Dia will still see his team play in the final, scheduled for May 13th, against Inter Milan. The Nerazzurri qualified the previous day by defeating Como (3-2), where Assane Diao plays.
The stage is set for a final that promises to be a spectacle, with, once again, a strong Senegalese presence at the top of European football.
