Italie : Gennaro Gattuso quitte officiellement son poste de sélectionneur
It's now official: Gennaro Gattuso's adventure with the Italian national team has come to an end. Weakened after the fiasco in Bosnia-Herzegovina, the Italian coach had already considered resigning, a decision then blocked by the federation president, Gabriele Gravina.
But the situation quickly changed. After the departures of Gabriele Gravina and Gianluigi Buffon, the question of whether Gattuso would stay on was no longer really relevant. While some Italian media outlets still suggested he might remain until June to allow time to prepare for his replacement, the trend ultimately reversed.
According to Sky Italia and "La Gazzetta dello Sport," the former Marseille coach is no longer the manager of the Italian national team. This information was quickly confirmed by the Italian Football Federation.
In an official statement, the federation announced an amicable separation: “The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) and Gennaro Ivan Gattuso have mutually terminated their contract. The FIGC thanks Gattuso and his staff for their professionalism, dedication, and passion during these nine months, and wishes them all the best for the future of their careers.”
A new chapter is therefore opening for the Italian national team, which is now in search of a new coach.
