"Je n'ai aucun regret" : La sortie ferme de Luis Enrique sur le faible temps de jeu d'Ibrahima Mbaye
A regular starter in almost every match during the first half of the season, Ibrahim Mbaye has completely disappeared from Luis Enrique's plans since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations, which Senegal won. Against Lyon last weekend, the Spanish coach made the bold decision not to include the newly capped Senegalese international in his squad.
Asked at a press conference before the rescheduled match against Nantes, Luis Enrique stated that he expects much more from Mbaye. "Every minute you can play at PSG has to be special. I have no regrets about Mbaye, but you have to be ready. He has been, but I expect much more from all the players. It's simply competition," he said.
At the start of the season, Mbaye benefited from the absence of several key PSG attackers, including injuries to Dembélé, Kvaratskhelia, and Désiré Doué. During this period, the Senegalese striker made a good impression, culminating in his call-up for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. After his return and a tournament that saw him reach a new level, he struggled to find a place in Luis Enrique's system.
Against Nantes this Wednesday, he could rejoin the group and, why not, gain some playing time during the rotations made by the Parisian coach in view of the upcoming deadlines, notably the Champions League semi-final against Bayern Munich in a week.
