JO 2028: ouverture de la billetterie avec un million de tickets à 28 dollars
The organizers of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics announce one million tickets at $28 for the opening of ticket sales this Wednesday, January 14.
“Access to these Games must be affordable and inclusive,” promised Casey Wasserman, president of LA28. “About a third of the tickets will cost less than $100,” he specified. Ticket sales open with a registration phase, followed by a lottery for available time slots starting in April.
Athletics in the first week
“Making tickets affordable for everyone here in Los Angeles will help inspire younger generations,” commented four-time Olympic swimming champion Janet Evans, athlete manager for LA28. This is the third time in its history that the City of Angels has hosted the Summer Games, after 1932 and 1984.
The opening ceremony will take place on Friday, July 14. Unlike Paris 2024, the athletics events will be held during the first week, while the swimming events will take place during the second week. Five new sports will be introduced at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, including cricket and baseball. Twenty-eight different venues, located between Los Angeles and Oklahoma City, will be used for the event.
The organizers of the 2024 Paris Games faced strong criticism regarding ticket prices. The cheapest tickets, offered at 24 euros, were quickly snapped up.
FIFA is also facing criticism from fan groups who deem the ticket prices for the 2026 World Cup, eight matches of which will be held in Los Angeles, "exorbitant." The cheapest seats, representing a tiny percentage of the total, start at $60 (approximately €52).
