JOJ 2026 : Le préfet de Dakar ordonne la libération du boulevard de la Gueule Tapée
The prefect of the Dakar department, Chérif Mouhamadou Blondin Ndiaye, announced the upcoming launch of road improvement and development works around sports facilities as part of the preparations for the 2026 Youth Olympic Games. These public works projects aim to sustainably improve traffic flow, user safety and the living environment of local residents.
To ensure the smooth commencement of the works, the prefectural authority requests that all persons currently occupying Boulevard de la Gueule Tapée and its adjacent areas completely vacate the affected areas. This measure specifically targets the section between the Abass Ndao Hospital roundabout and Place de la Nation.
The deadline for clearing the site is Sunday, January 18, 2026. After this date, the prefect warns that appropriate measures may be taken to ensure the evacuation of the area in order to guarantee everyone's safety and strict adherence to the work schedule. The statement concludes by thanking the local population for their understanding and contribution to the success of this nationally significant project.
